The announcement of the theme of Lincoln's prom, "Bejeweled," an homage to Taylor Swift’s recent hit single of the same name, got mixed reviews amongst the student body.

One student quips, “I would never wear rhinestones on my prom dress, I think this theme is a disaster!” Looking in the comments of the class of ‘23’s Instagram doesn’t make matters much better, with some seniors voicing their disapproval, and many others following along more subtly, liking these negative comments. This being said, many senior Swifties are thrilled about the theme. There are also speculations that this theme is more for the purpose of the decorations and other aesthetics of the prom venue itself, and some seniors not wanting to change their entire look seem to be more satisfied with this approach to the theme. As a Swiftie myself, all I have to say is that the DJ had better be playing a ton of Taylor on prom night, and may all the prom attendees “make the whole place shimmer”
