It’s widely known that Lynxtime isn’t viewed fondly in the eyes of Lincoln students. Ever since it replaced mentorship, hundreds of Lincoln students have been disgruntled at the concept, and a general dissatisfaction has descended upon the subject. However, we here at Lynxfeed believe we have cracked the code for a better Lynxtime. With summer coming around, we propose that Lynxtime be replaced with sunbathing in the commons. Here's why.
1. Mood enhancement
Sunlight improves the mood of students and enables them to participate and engage more in class.
2. Vitamin D
Sunlight is a vital source of Vitamin D, which is needed for a healthy body.
3. Health Benefits
Being exposed to sunlight lowers blood pressure and decreases the risk of heart attacks and strokes and has been associated with a strengthened immune system.
4. Saves money
With the elimination of Lynxtime, there will no longer be a need to occasionally print out things for a Lynxtime lesson. This will save costs on printer paper and ink.
5. Increases socializing
Socialization helps sharpen memory and cognitive skills, increases mood, and overall helps you live longer. You can reap the benefits of all these plus the sunlight while you soak up the rays and talk to your friends.
6. Maintains strong bones
Vitamin D helps maintain calcium, which is essential for strong, healthy bones.
7. Reduces stress
Especially if someone has late work they haven’t gotten to yet, a reduction in stress may help them tackle it better and improves well-being overall.
8. Improves sleep
Studies show that getting an hour of natural light in the morning helps regulate our circadian rhythms (our internal clock that tells us when to sleep) and helps it produce melatonin when it’s time to sleep.
9. Sunlight kills harmful bacteria
Dust can sometimes have bacteria, which can trigger asthma and allergy symptoms. UV light, however, kills these bacteria, preventing symptoms.
10. Clear skin
Moderate exposure to sunlight may improve symptoms of acne, eczema, psoriasis.
