It's almost summer, and it's starting to get hot. With temperatures reaching the 90s, the city opened cooling centers to help people stay safe. Seattle Schools published a heat advisory with precautions and tips as well. However, despite that, Lincoln doesn't have AC.
So why don't we have it?
To put it simply, it costs a ton and Seattle doesn't usually get that hot. Lincoln is 194,000ft², and from some quick googling, it could easily cost upwards of $300,000 per year to run. And since Seattle only gets hot for maybe two months out of the 10 months, we're in school, it's simply not worth that investment.
What should we do instead?
Otter Pops are 80 for $15. That means it's $0.1875 per popsicle. If there are 1600 students at Lincoln, that's only $300 per day. Scaling that math up, it would cost the school only $6000 to give every Lincoln High School student a popsicle every school day for a month.
