In Mentorship, all students received a pamphlet courtesy of Seattle Public Schools. While short, the pamphlet outlined the rights each student has, the responsibilities a student has, and a lengthy list of behavioral violations, among other things. Here are some students’ responses to the pamphlet.
“It’s clear that the school system is trying to ensure that all students follow rules without question.”
–Owen, 11th grade
“It’s reminiscent of a novel I once read titled ‘1984’.”
–Avi, 11th grade
“Why is marijuana not allowed, but meth is?”
–Wyatt, 11th grade
“I think it makes sense.”
–Rowan, 11th grade
“I’m glad that the school went out of their way to share the rules with us before we break them.”
–Jonah, 11th grade
“Bad news guys, we can’t do rule-breaking.”
–Juniper, 10th grade
