Today was the first day of the school year where Lincoln students didn’t have mentorship. Evidently, admin is still adjusting to this, as bells went off at completely incorrect times.
If you need the schedule, here it is:
This unpredictability has rattled the student population. Here are some students’ thoughts:
“My history teacher held me in class for 10 extra minutes today. It really disrupted my lunch eating.”
—Jonah, 11th grade.
“It’s really misleading as a new student”
—Anika, 9th
“It adds a fun element of surprise to school.”
—Sage, 10th grade
“A lot of freshmen are having panic attacks”
—Lale, 9th grade
“As a junior, it was really stressful for me because I have a lot going on. I was giving a presentation and the bell interrupted it, and that really threw me off.”
—Audrey, 11th grade
“It annoys me a lot because I’m too stupid to remember that it’s messed up”
—Hazel, 10th grade
“It makes me want to cry”
—Fiona, 10th grade
“It made me really stressed out that I thought I had to be done with lunch that I thought was finished eating. It made me drop my fork. It landed on the ground with a clang.”
—Caleb, 11th grade
Truly, this unpredictability is disrupting students. I hope admin steps up to fix this traumatizing issue. How will we survive this year with this nightmarish occurrence in our minds?
