Last week, we asked students at Lincoln what advice they'd give to incoming freshmen. People came through with tips for lunch, social lives, grades, and more!
Here's what they said:
Join clubs ~~like programming club~~ and sports, being social makes your time 10x better
—Tyler, 10th grade
High school is not like the movies. Be polite to your teachers. You can get Dick's for lunch if you walk quickly enough.
—Emme, 12th grade
Don’t walk to Dick's with short friends
—Reina, 10th grade
Tell among us jokes, people will love it
—Isaac, 10th grade
Talk to school and teachers if you need it bc they can help you if you have family stuff and need to prioritize that, i was late on so much stuff because of personal issues and taking care of family and it worked out bc i could talk to my teachers
—Anonymous, 11th grade
Check all your school lunch for mold and other contamination before eating it
—Andrew, 10th grade
Soup from QFC is like $4, for a significant upgrade in quality from SPS lunch (which costs money now)
—Callum, 10th grade
Make sure to use axe body spray in between each class
—Federico, 10th grade
My advice is to do your homework and work in general on time so that it doesn't pile up later on and you become too overwhelmed. Also to take breaks when you need it and to seek help or emotional support when you really feel stressed
—Camille, 11th grade
Dear freshman, please do not use the bathroom to vape and have conversations. Other people are trying to pee and it makes it very awkward.
—Anonymous, 11th grade
And last,
If you go up the stairs really fast you can make it to the secret 5th floor
—Rafe, 12th grade
