We all know the feeling. Opening up Schoology to see one of the worst-looking pieces of software Seattle Schools could have possibly purchased. But while looking terrible, Schoology also has some really stupid features.
1. Nicknames
Schoology has this handy-dandy name changing feature in user settings. All you do is type in whatever ridiculous name you want, tell them you want it to replace your first name, and bang, you have a stupid name that appears for every single one of your teachers and friends.
2. iCal
Out of this entire list, the iCal integration is the most helpful one. In your account settings, you can get an iCal link that you can add to whatever calendar client you use. Then, every time a teacher posts a new assignment or anything to your Schoology calendar, it gets added to your personal one too.
3. Badges
This is also an under-used Schoology feature. Teachers can award badges to students for anything, it's pretty cool you should ask your teachers to do it.
4. Unlimited Comment Length
Heh heh so you know comments under posts? Schoology doesn't have a character limit. Want to post the entire Bee Movie script? Go for it! Or the first 4,000,000,000 digits of pi? I've actually seen that one in Schoology, it's really funny to me that they haven't blocked it.
5. HTML Editor
This one is a little bit more obscure, but when you're submitting an assignment, you can click Create. Then, if you click the little two dots (:
), you can switch to the HTML editor where you're able to write whatever HTML and CSS you want. It all gets compressed into a PDF before submission, but it's still pretty cool.
If you have any other Schoology tricks that weren't listed here, feel free to let us know!
